1. Who we are

The controller of your personal data is Movans Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 17278860). Our ICO registration number is ZC181194.

2. What we collect

When you use the calculator

• UK postcodes for your collection and delivery addresses.
• Property type, number of bedrooms, floor level, and access information.
• Move contents details (estimated volume, item types, special items).
• Your preferred move date (optional).
• Technical data: your IP address (used briefly for rate-limiting; not stored in our database) and page-view and usage statistics via Google Analytics 4 if you accept analytics cookies.

The calculator itself does not ask for your name, email address, or phone number. We only collect those if you choose to contact us to arrange your move, as described next.

When you contact us to hire us

If you submit the “hire us” enquiry form on your estimate page, we collect the contact details you give us:

• Your name.
• Your email address.
• Your phone number.
• Any optional message you add about your move.

We use these details only to respond to your enquiry and arrange your move. We do not use them for marketing. Your enquiry is sent to us by email; it is not stored in the calculator database.

3. Lawful basis

We process your move details under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK-GDPR - legitimate interests. Our legitimate interest is providing the cost estimate you requested. A Legitimate Interests Assessment is on file and available on request.

If you contact us through the “hire us” form, we process your contact details under Article 6(1)(b) - taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, namely responding to your enquiry and arranging your move. Where we keep your enquiry for a limited follow-up period after that, we rely on Article 6(1)(f) - our legitimate interest in handling and following up enquiries you asked us to deal with.

Analytics cookies are loaded only if you give consent via our cookie banner (Article 6(1)(a) - consent).

4. How we use your data

• To calculate and display your indicative cost estimate.
• To let you return to your quote page via the unique URL we provide.
• To improve the accuracy of the calculator over time (aggregated analysis only).
• If you contact us through the “hire us” form, to respond to your enquiry and arrange your move.

We do not use your data for marketing. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except the processors listed in §6.

5. How long we keep your data

Your move details and estimate are deleted automatically 90 days after you submit them; after that, no record of that calculator submission is retained.

If you contact us through the “hire us” form, we keep your enquiry and contact details for up to 12 months after our last contact with you about your move, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time (see section 7).

If you accept analytics cookies, usage data in Google Analytics 4 is retained for 14 months, then deleted automatically.

You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

To exercise any right, email move@movans.co.uk with the quote ID from your results page URL (the string of characters after /quote/ in your browser’s address bar). We will respond within one calendar month.

We will post any material changes here with an updated date. We recommend checking this page periodically.
